Nikolai and Emmeline’s day was exactly what Boulder weddings are supposed to feel like. Easy, real, and full of people who genuinely showed up for each other.
We started the morning at Rembrandt Yard in downtown Boulder — big windows, great light, and enough space for everyone to actually settle in and enjoy the start of the day instead of just surviving it.
The first big moment was Emmeline’s first look with her bridesmaids. They absolutely lost it. In the best way. We’re talking full-on hype squad energy — cheering, hugging, a lot of happy chaos. Emmeline hadn’t even made it into the room yet and the energy was already through the roof.
Then it was just her and Nikolai, tucked into a quiet corner of downtown for their first look before the rest of the day started. That moment always gets me. The nerves settle a little, and suddenly it’s really real.
From there we headed up to Chautauqua with the Flatirons as the backdrop. No rushing, no performing — just Nikolai, Emmeline, and the people they love most. These two are the kind of people who are actually present wherever they are, and you could feel it during the ceremony. That’s not something you can fake.
After the ceremony we made our way back to Rembrandt Yard for the reception, and one of the most meaningful parts of the whole day happened there: their traditional tea ceremony. They changed into beautiful traditional outfits and took time — real time — to honor their families.
And then the party started.
The dance floor filled up and didn’t slow down. These two brought everyone with them, and the room felt like it.
What I’ll remember most about this day is how present Nikolai and Emmeline were for all of it. Not racing to the next thing, not distracted — just there, with each other and their people, the whole time.
That’s the good stuff. I’m so glad I got to be there for it!
